Red Flag Relationships: Your Teen, the Media, and You
Saturday, July 82:00—3:30 PMCommunity Room, Kitchen + Middle Abington Free Library1030 Old York Rd, Abington, PA, 19001
Join us to learn how to navigate conversations with your teen about healthy and unhealthy relationships in their own lives and in the media. In this session, parents and caregivers will learn how to recognize the warning signs of teen dating violence as well as identify safe intervention strategies and resources to use if they suspect their teen is in an abusive relationship. They will also learn to recognize dangerous depictions of love in the media and ways to use these instances as opportunities to discuss the importance of trust, respect, and boundaries in healthy relationships when talking with their teens.
This session will be facilitated by an educator from Laurel House, a domestic violence services agency that serves all of Montgomery County. To date, Laurel House educators have worked with over 20,000 students and faculty to engage adolescents in discussions around healthy and unhealthy relationships. They are excited to share their expertise, answer questions, and offer tips and tricks for talking with teens during this presentation.
