Philadelphia is famous for its colonial and revolutionary buildings and artifacts, which draw millions of tourists each year. But Philadelphia existed long before the Liberty Bell was first rung, and its history extends well beyond the American Revolution. Join historian Paul Kahan on an exploration of the people, places, and events that make Philadelphia unique: from Independence Hall to Eastern State Penitentiary, Benjamin Franklin and Betsy Ross to Cecil B. Moore and Cherelle Parker. This program is intended for adults.
About the speaker: Paul Kahan is a historian and author. He earned his Ph.D. from Temple University and has published seven books. His latest book, Philadelphia: A Narrative History is out on October 29. Books will be available for sale by Mavey Books.
