Fiddler's Journey to the Big Screen Film Discussion

Wednesday, February 77:00—8:30 PMCommunity Room, Entire RoomAbington Free Library1030 Old York Rd, Abington, PA, 19001

This program is produced in conjunction with The Yiddish Book Center’s “Stories of Exile” Reading Groups for Public Libraries. This is a reading and discussion program to engage teens and adults in thinking about experiences of displacement, migration, and diaspora. In this program, librarians organize reading groups to discuss three books of Yiddish literature in translation, and one book related to the experience of a community served by their library.

February's film for discussion will be Daniel Raim's 2022 documentary Fiddler's Journey to the Big Screen, which was created to mark the 50th anniversary of "Fiddler on the Roof" reaching movie theaters. Like with the other "Stories of Exile" discussions, participants are required to watch this film before coming to the discussion program. This documentary is available to borrow within our Library system and is also available on our Kanopy streaming e-resource, which is free with your Abington library card. You can learn more about Kanopy here.
