Doggone Good Readers

Tuesday, July 127:00—7:35 PMZoom

This program gives children who have completed grades 1-5 an opportunity to practice reading aloud to registered therapy dogs on Zoom. Research shows that children who read aloud to gentle, non-judgmental listeners, such as therapy dogs, will feel more confident about their reading skills.

During this session each child will select a dog and be given time to read to them and their handler in a Zoom breakout room. Children may read from books that they have at home or from materials borrowed from a library. All breakout rooms are supervised by an Abington Free Library staff member, while all participating dogs are actively registered with therapy dog organizations.

Registration for this event has now closed.
