Doggone Good Readers

Saturday, July 910:30—10:50 AMCommunity Room, Entire RoomAbington Free Library1030 Old York Rd, Abington, PA, 19001

This program gives children who have completed grades 1-5 an opportunity to practice reading aloud to registered therapy dogs. Research shows that children who read aloud to gentle, non-judgmental listeners, such as therapy dogs, will feel more confident about their reading skills.

Up to seven therapy dogs will be available as Doggone Good Listeners during each Saturday program.  Children must sign up in advance for ONE of the following time slots--10:00-10:20, 10:30-10:50, or 11:00-11:20--on each scheduled date.  During this session each child will be assigned to a dog and given one-on-one time to read to them and their handler. Children may read from books that they have at home or from a selection of books provided by the library. All sessions are supervised by an Abington Free Library staff member.

Registration for this event has now closed.
