What better way to "Unearth a Story" than meeting real-life paleontologists Roberta and Mike Straka! Join us as we explore the different skills that come together on a paleontological dig, experience the thrill of digging up a real Triceratops dinosaur bone, and then help construct a dinosaur. Featuring a REAL Albertosaurus skull!
Audience participation, a touch of magic, and show and tell round out this fun, educational and exciting adventure. As an added attraction, our visiting paleontologists will set-up a mini-museum, showcasing photos and minerals from their summer digs in South Dakota!
For kids going into grades K-5 and their families.
Limit of 60 kids. First come, first served!
Mike and Roberta Straka have been conducting and managing paleontological digs in North and South Dakota since 1978. Each year, they teach paleontology and geology in elementary schools and libraries throughout NY, NJ, and PA. In addition, Mike is the lead curator for the teams’ fossil collection and his team is credited with discovering the “Tanis Fossil Site.”
Roberta self-published her first children’s book, “Roberta’s, Wonderful Dinosaur Adventure.” In addition, they have toured the country for seven years with Slim Goodbody of PBS fame, two years with PBS Dinosaur Train Live, and hundreds of appearances at colleges and universities across the United States. They are both excited to share their love of dinosaurs with children and audiences of all ages!
