Brill found a letter in the wall of her Elkins Park home. Inspired by the discovery, she wrote A Letter in the Wall about a fictionalized character, Joan Dumann. Joan struggles with love, family, and business, as well as her own inner doubts throughout the novel.

Eileen Brill was born and raised in Philadelphia. In addition to being an author, Brill is a sign language interpreter and painter. A Letter in the Wall is her first novel.
