As part of the Stories of Exile series, join Theatre Ariel in their world premiere of, "A Bintel Brief: A Selection of Letters from the Lower Eastside to the Jewish Daily Forward." A Bintel Brief was a Yiddish advice column, starting in early 20th century New York City, that anonymously printed readers' questions and posted replies. Jewish immigrants, predominantly from Eastern Europe, asked for advice on various facets of their acculturation to America, including economic, family, religious and theological difficulties. This production brings a selection of those letters to life.

Theatre Ariel is Philadelphia’s only professional theatre company dedicated to telling stories about the Jewish experience. For over three decades, they have been presenting plays and special events that speak to Jewish history, culture and thought. Their plays have touched on every aspect of the diverse fabric of Jewish life.
